The site of The Princess Royal has been occupied by different public houses since 1845 when it was called the” Engine Inn”. It stopped trading and was sold in 2015 and in the last few years had become severely dilapidated. The design seeks to repair and rebuild the existing external fabric while improving its energy efficiency. The existing floors will be rebuilt using timber joist construction while the extensions will be constructed in CLT and clad in glazed tiles.
